SUGARING

The ancient art of removing unwanted hair, naturally & gently

WHAT IS SUGARING?

It is a method of hair removal originating from the ancient Egyptians.  It has survived the test of time and still widely used by Arab women today.  Sugaring has been improved and updated over the years to become one of the most effective and efficient methods of removing unwanted hair.  As well as removing unwanted hair, it also removes dead skin cells leaving your skin soft, smooth and healthy looking. You can be sugared almost anywhere!

WHY IS IT CALLED SUGARING?

It comes from the sugar paste that is used to remove the hairs.  Sugar paste contains only natural ingredients, the main ingredient being glucose, hence the name “Sugaring”.

WHY IS SUGARING BECOMING SO POPULAR?

With regular treatment you will find the re-growth of your hairs slower, finer and sparser than before.  Also sugaring has never harmed anyone with skin complaints such as eczema in fact, in some cases it has improved their condition.

AFTER YOUR FIRST SUGARING TREATMENT

You may find you can feel a small amount of hair stubble if you have been previously shaving or using depilatory creams.  Both these methods disrupt hair growth so making hair more difficult to remove until the natural growth pattern is restored.  This usually occurs after 2 treatments.

AFTER YOUR SUGARING TREATMENT

Do not use any perfumed products, including deodorants, on a sugared area for 24 hours after visit.  Also, do not expose your skin to direct heat, i.e. hot bath, sauna, sunbed or strong sun for 48 hours after sugaring.  Spotting is quite normal and will disappear within 24 hours.

SKIN THAT SHOULD NOT BE SUGARED

Broken, sunburnt or damaged skin, new scar tissue or hair growing from moles.  Please let me know if there is a possibility you have a skin disorder before sugaring commences, on further treatments.

INGROWING HAIRS

You may occasionally notice an ingrown hair under your skin.  These hairs become trapped by dead cells forming over the hair follicle, before the hair can reach the surface of the skin. You can buy an exfoliating mitt and a thick moisturising cream to help prevent this.

SKIN IS WARM AND UNCOMFORTABLE

Rarely, if you have sensitive skin. The skin becomes very warm and red a few hours after treatment.  If this does occur, wrap ice cubes in a tissue and dab on area until skin cools then use an unperfumed moisturiser.  Very small whiteheads can appear up to 3 days after treatment, usually on the top lip.  If left untouched they will disappear quickly and do not usually reoccur with further treatment.

FUTURE HAIR GROWTH

A very noticeable diminishment of hair growth often appears after about 2 treatments.  Regular sugaring treatments will result in large hairless areas, soft hair growth and less frequent appointments.

BEFORE YOUR NEXT APPOINTMENT

Please do not use oils or moisturising creams for 24 hours before the treatment, as the paste will not stick to the hairs.  The onset of your menstrual cycle may cause sensitivity.
